Belos is a link to a speech given by Fernando Luis Rojas, at a rally
marking the 90th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. The author is
President of the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU) of Havana
city and the speech was given at an event attended by 1000 students last
week, November 6, 2007. Note that the author is the president of the
Havana CITY FEU, not the national FEU, whose president is Carlos Lage
Cordiniu.

It contains favorable references to the Lenin and Trotsky who became
government leaders after having been forced into exile for long periods
of time. Notice that the poster advertising the meeting gives its theme
as "90 years since the silenced revolution" and the graphic depicts a
Russian peasant woman, flying up and out of a bottle, perhaps like a
genie? There's a great deal of interesting stuff here beyond what is
indicated in this note. Think of this as more of a heads-up and with
luck we'll have this document translated to English quite quickly.

The speaker places Russians Lenin and Trotsky as predessors to Cuban
revolutionary leaders Julio Antonio Mella, who himself had been leader
of the FEU in his own time, as well as having been a founder of the
first Cuban Communist Party, and Antonio Guiteras, founder of Joven
Cuba, a revolutionary organization from the 1930s. Guiteras served as
Minster of the Interior during the four-month long government of 1933
which came in after the ouster of the dictator Gerardo Machado. Mella
was assassinated by agents of Machado, Guiteras by Batista's forces in
1935. Cubans consider Guiteras a predecessor to Fidel Castro.
