My insurance does cover glasses and contacts. I did a little math and figured out that by the time I am 70, I will have spent about $4,200 on glasses. I have had three pairs of glasses in seven years. They are about $150 - $200 a pair. It would probably be cheaper for insurance companies just to pay for the one time expensive surgery than to pay all the smaller claims.
