Please pass this on to the FCS faculty and graduate students:
RefWorks (information below) is similar to EndNote and Procite, but less
sophisticated. Apparently you can move data from RefWorks to EndNote
and Procite. RefWorks would be available via the Web for all faculty,
students, and staff.
Please let me know what you think.

Subject: RefWorks Trial
We have a campus-wide trial of the RefWorks bibliographic management
software until January 5. It is IP-accessible, though you and users
will want to set up a personal account to save citations in. We'll be
adding a link to the Marriott home page later today; please publicize it
as well at Eccles and Quinney and to faculty and any students you are in
1. Go to www.refworks.com/refworks from an IP authenticated computer. 2.
Click on Sign Up for an Individual Account 3. Enter the appropriate
information and click on Register.
2. There is a RefWorks tutorial available within the program itself
(just click on the "Tutorial" link at the top of the RefWorks interface)
and at RefWorks.com: http://www.refworks.com/demo.shtml.
3. RefWorks supports remote access. When an end-user logs into RefWorks
from a non-authorized IP address they will need to enter our
institution's Group Code. The Group Code for our institution is: RWUUtah
4) Several data providers, including CSA, OCLC, OVID, ProQuest, and
Elsevier Engineering Village, provide a direct export link within their
interface. This is an easy way for new users to begin creating their
personal database. To see a complete list of service providers which
are currently compatible with RefWorks go to
Any questions? Be sure to let me know. One thing being contemplated, if
we do go ahead with this--and they're offering a very, very favorable
price for unlimited campus access--is to integrate this as a tool into
the campus portal, which is kind of exciting. And definitely look at the
databases in your subject areas to be sure they integrate with this tool
and let me know if you find ones that don't that are important so we can
talk to CSA about adding them.
