Am I wrong, but doesn't much of the work on M'ism and f'ism proceed from
an era in which the nuclear family - dad working for pay, mom not working
for pay but still working plenty hard with the house and the kids - was
more or less assumed as the First World norm? Have there been more recent
attempts to theorize more modern structures - the breakup of/strains on
the nuclear family (the phrasing of that is *not* meant to imply that the
NF is a good thing - far from it!), women's improving fortunes in the
labor market (and, in the US, men's declining fortunes)?
