A baby's ego is limitless. He does not distinguish
the teat from himself, nor the rest of the world from the
teat. It all goes into his mouth.
One way of describing maturation is the increasing
acceptance of "the other" and, the concommittant diminution
of the ego.
Acquisitiveness, consumerism, the proprietary
instinct, are all manifestations of egotism an infantilism, an
unresolved oral phase.
The search for Eden, the golden age,...primitive communism
is a wish-fulfillment mythification of infancy when all the world
was "mine"; not the reign of "love & sharing and peace".
