To Louis P.,
      The quote from Sobell is generally fairly
accurate.  It however does not seriously address
the questions of 1)  distortion of production
structures, 2) technological stagnation, or 3) the
fact that the national leaderships were imposed by
Stalin originally and consisted of people who were
protected by him in Moscow.  When there were efforts
to put off these leaderships,  they were resisted
by force.
     Was Rome not imperialistic just because it built
up infrastructure in the provinces?
