The Evolution of Cuban Communism or Cuban Socialism?

If I were the head of Cuba circa 1960/61 I would have opposed imperialism,
favored nationalizations and also permitted democratic elections. If I lost
in those elections, as the Sandinistas did in a somewhat similar situation, I
would have been in a position like the Sandinistas to continue the struggle.
By the way they are gaining strength in Nicaragua at the moment.

I would not have guarenteed the revolution through suppressing opposition.
This course leads inevitably to Stalinism which I believe is a betrayal of
socialism. Is thisthe course you advocate?
