Louis: Adam, this is really foolish stuff. There is not even the slightest
resemblance between attitudes toward Cuba today by the US left and those
toward the USSR by the CP and its periphery. The comment about Castro
running Cuba like his father ran his plantation comes from Saul Landau of
the Institute of Policy Studies, a left think tank. There has never been a
single article in NACLA that whitewashes Cuba. What you get instead is
analysis that does justice to a complex society. Jon and I are under no
obligations to spoon-feed you information on Cuba. As soon as you leave
work, go to a bookstore and pick up anything on Cuba from either Monthly
Review or South End Press. You will learn a lot, most especially that
there no Castro "fan clubs" in the US left.
