Louis: There's another thing to consider when speaking of the EZLN. Their
offensive took place within the context of a huge counteroffensive by
global capital that had wiped existing socialism off of the face of the
map. The great achievement of the EZLN is to puncture the myth of the
neoliberal consensus, god bless them. It has taken the Indians of Peru and
Chiapas to wipe the grin off of finance capital. How appropriate for
the earliest victims of European colonialism and exploitation to be rising
up during a period when the bourgeoisie seems dominant.
