If you would like to see actual pyramids of skulls and bones from our
history, you can go to the Czech Republic and find out where the nearest
ossuary (bone depository) is to where you're staying.

I visited one, a crypt full of bones and skulls from the dead in the Thirty
Years War (1618-1648), one of Catholicism's great gifts to the world. Can't
remember the name offhand (twenty years ago).

Some Baroque artist had been inspired to arrange the bones into macabre
vases and arabesques.
