In Defence of Stephen Jay Gould

All this is true, and amplified, in a grad school where all my
masters/doctoral students learnt english as a 3rd/4th/5th language,
and where many come from highly-politicised township and student
movement backgrounds which gives them great confidence in
putting out a line, and defending it with nuance and humour.

Is there a technical fix, in the form of the software that is translating
voice to text? We haven't seen much of it yet; has anyone formed a
lasting opinion? Not just about the technical prowess, but the
implications for politics and oral/written power relations?
