U.S. economy IS stronger than stats (used to) say

I'll take a quick stab at this. How about the cheap fuel that flooded into
the US after the Gulf War, spurred by the necessity for Saudi Arabia to
make up its losses financing that venture? Only now is this period of
extremely low oil prices coming to an end.

The profits for the auto industry from the sale of SUV's and light trucks
are enormous, as much or more than $10,000 per vehicle.

Did any other advanced capitalist countries benefit so directly from this
flood of oil?
