"Salvationism" is acute. Note that those on the left who wobbled most
on the question of the U.S. aggression in Yugoslavia were those who
were obsessed with keeping themselves morally pure. The more
general ideology, in fact, is precisely moralism. And, note, how easy
it is to fall in to the trap of moralism (partially defined as an exessive
concern with hidden motive). Macdonald's slogan, " Workers of all
lifestyles, unite!" is an excellent one -- which his post does not wholly
adhere to, since there is at least a touch of moral condemnation of
someone who does not wear *his* kind of clothes. :-)
