Thirty years ago today, a batallion of the Ohio National Guard opened fire
on a protest against the US invasion of Cambodia at Kent State University
in Kent, Ohio.  Four students were killed and many others wounded.  The
protest was one of hundreds around the world on college and high school
campuses, in the streets of major cities and small towns, and even on
military bases by servicemen and women.  Ten days later, Mississippi state
police killed two more students during an antiwar/antiracist demonstration
at Jackson State in Jackson, MS.  For an excellent memorial (and intro to
