That probably is an indication of sloppy diagnosis -- i.e. bipolar or
unipolar with psychotic symptoms being wrongly identified as
schizophrenia. It may well be analogous to what sometimes seems to be
the meaning of "borderline personality disorder" in thos country -- a
psychuatrist's way of saying fuck you to his/her patient. Just within my
relatively small circle of acquaintances I know three people who suffer
from voices (off and on) but who are _not_ schizophrenic. Considering
the small number of people who suffer from schizophrenia, it would not
take all that many misdiagnoses to bring about a 25% jump.
