A persistent rumour has it that Mark B. Mitin, 'Stalin's philosopher'
(Dominique Lecourt), ghost-wrote the famous chapter on Historical and
Dialectical Materialism in Stalin's Short Course on the History of the
Bolshevik Party. (This rumour is mentioned, for example, by R. Zapata in La
philosophie soviétique, Paris, 1989.) Has material found in the Soviet
archives since the dissolution of the Soviet Union made it possible to
confirm this rumour or to scotch it? Do there exist other sources of
information that might shed some light on the matter?
