Vietnam to lay off 70,500 civil servants
HANOI, Vietnam: The Vietnamese government will reduce the number of civil
servants by 5 per cent this year in an effort to make central and local
governments more efficient and reduce salary costs, an official said on
A total of 70,500 civil servants, or about 5 per cent of the 1.38 million
civil servants, will be laid off this year, the official from the
government's Committee for Personnel and Organisations said.

government organisations and the privatization of some educational, health

Currently, about 7 million people receive government salaries, including
