By Ralph Boulton

ANKARA, Turkey (Reuters) - Turkey's lira plunged below the key level of
one million to the dollar Friday while IMF (news - web sites) officials
met in Ankara to seek a way out of a financial crisis which has stirred
furious condemnation of Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit.

In Washington, the White House said President Bush (news - web sites)
had called Ecevit Friday to voice support and stressed what he said was
the importance of cooperating with the IMF.
