Subject: 'The most radical man in Canada'

> VANCOUVER -- Jack Scott, once described in a mainstream national magazine as the
> most radical man in Canada, has died of a heart attack at 90.
>
> His death cuts off a remarkable 70-year involvement in socialist activism in
> Canada that began with a 1930 May Day rally in Montreal and ended with Mr. Scott
> just two chapters short of completing his fifth book, a critique of the early
> days of the Russian Revolution.

I have been meaning to thank Richard Fidler fro posting this item to the list. As a
result of this article, I attended the memorial and felt awed and honored to be in
the tradition of this man. I spoke to many who wer radicalized in the 60's and 70's
in Vancouver who will tell you that Jack Scott helped inspire them and gave them hope
in the Canadian Working Class. I loved a picture of Scott being greeted by Mao and
Chou on a visit to China, with the caption reading: "Jack Scott greeted by admirers".

No doubt.
