Steel output, consumption, export up in 2000-01
NEW DELHI: Finished steel production during the last financial year
registered a growth of 11 per cent at 29.7 million tonnes, while the
consumption of steel was up by 1.78 MT at 26.87 MT during 2000-01.
According to official figures released on Thursday, the total volume of
finished steel exported during 2000-01 stood at 2.86 MT, while the saleable
exports were up at 3.12 MT registering a growth of 9.5 per cent.
The pig iron production during the period reduced by two per cent at 3.11
MT, an official release said. (PTI)
