I posted the article because of what it showed about the role and nature of
the fundamentalist currents in Pakistan, rather than for its content about
the Kashmir question as such.

I will leave that debate to people more knowledgeable than myself, aside
from pointing out that the author of the original article is very clearly
attempting to take an internationalist position that does not make
concessions to either Pakistani or Indian national chauvinist prejudices.
His success in doing so may, of course, be disputed.

Having said that, I have always been vaguely amused by the "Socialists think
...." form.  Inevitably, it's only some Socialists who think that, and very
often my response is "Well, _I_ don't think that...".
