The following appeared on the Solidarity (USA) list. I am wondering what
other US-based socialists think of the idea and if it is possible? What

Subject: Socialist Alliance USA?
What is everyone's opinion on bringing socialist groups together into a
Socialist Alliance? similar to that in the UK and Australia. I have
thought of this for some time and think it would be an excellent idea to
get socialist groups in the USA to come together and unite as part of an
alliance, thus bringing resources and activities together, as well as
putting out candidates that represent the alliance.
For structure, member groups would retain autonomy and continue their
own activities, but the alliance would allow us to have open dialogue,
exchange ideas, and create a single voice. Each group would have equal
representation in an alliance executive committee (2 members from each
member group?). People could also join the alliance directly, without
having to join any member group, thereby bringing in more socialists
perhaps (those who do not want to join any specific group, but just the
Possible member groups could be the SPUSA, Solidarity, Left Turn, CPUSA,
CoC, FSP, and whomever else that would be interested in joining to
create an agreed upon platform, constitution, and democracy.
