Michael Crowder
West Africa Under Colonial Rule

Frederic Clairmont:
The Rise and Fall of Economic Liberalism (excellent book about India, can
be ordered from Amazon.com)

Gordon Lewis
Growth of the Modern West Indies (Monthly Review, but probably not in print)

If you are looking for an all-in-one volume, see "Development and Disorder"
which is a survey country-by-country since 1945. It does not include Samoa,
Nigeria or Barbados specifically, however.
