BOOKS BY ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA
A project of Ocean Press and the Che Guevara Studies Center (Havana)

A series of books has been launched by Ocean Press and the Che Guevara
Studies Center of Havana, with the objective of disseminating the works and
ideas of Ernesto Che Guevara -- this most contemporary of radical role
models.

Although perhaps best known as a guerrilla fighter, this multi-volume series
will show Che Guevara as a profound thinker with a radical world view that
still strikes a chord with young rebels in every country today. Eager
readers will be introduced to Che the political economist and philosopher,
Che the revolutionary humanist.

Some of these works have never before been published -- such as Che’s
"Critical Notes on Political Economy". Other works have only recently been
uncovered, while many have been overlooked or available intermittently. A
number of the books will be thematic anthologies, such as "Latin America" --
an exhaustive selection of Che’s vision toward Latin America from 1950 to
1967.

All these works will be published by Ocean Press -- in association with the
Che Guevara Studies Center -- in English- and Spanish-language editions,
portraying Che as more than an icon on a T-shirt or poster and restoring his
cultural depth, his political incisiveness, his irony and his passion.

CHE GUEVARA STUDIES CENTER
The Che Guevara Studies Center of Havana, Cuba, is the institution
established to promote, both inside and outside of Cuba, the thought, life
and works of Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara, recognizing the extraordinary
significance of his theory, praxis and ethical legacy -- and their validity
and timeliness in today’s globalized world. The Center is located in the
house where Che lived with his family from 1962 until his final departure
form Cuba. The director of the Che Guevara Studies Center is Aleida March.

OCEAN PRESS
Ocean Press is an independent, progressive book publisher with offices in
Melbourne, New York and Havana. Already recognized for titles on Cuba and
Latin America, Ocean Press has recently expanded its publishing program to
include two new series -- Rebel Lives and Radical History -- for a new
generation of political activists.

THE GREAT DEBATE ON POLITICAL ECONOMY
Che Guevara outlines a humanist approach to economics in the historic “Great
Debate” on political economy
In the post-Soviet era, what is the relevance of Marxist economics? As
Minister of Industry in the early years of the Cuban revolution, Che Guevara
initiated an unprecedented and controversial debate on the economic
challenges of the “transition to socialism.” The debate included
internationally prominent Marxist economists such as Ernest Mandel and
Charles Bettelheim. For the first time in English, these brilliant and
unresolved economic ideas are collected, offering a unique resource for a
new generation discussing alternatives to capitalism.

“This debate has a special place in the history of Marxist thought.” --
Ernest Mandel, author of Marxist Economic Theory and Late Capitalism
