America has been described as a place where white people stole land from
the red men, stole black men from their land, and put the stolen people
on the stolen land. Various figures in the 1960s used versions of this
description, but it was obviously much older. The earliest I found in
print was from George Henry Evans, the labor editor in 1844, and he said
he was using the "comprehensive phrase of a black writer."

Does anyone know which black writer?

Thanks,
Mark Lause
