More than 400 people packed Bethlehem, New York, Town Hall on Sunday to
hear former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter. Dozens had to stand in
the back for the entire meeting, including this reporter.

The forum was sponsored by Bethlehem Neighbors for Peace.

Despite a campaign against Ritter conducted by the local Clear Channel
station WGY, or perhaps because of it, the crowd was overwhelmingly
supportive, giving Ritter several standing ovations.

Scott Allen Miller, the Clear Channel talk show host who called for his
supporters to come to the forum was the only person who wore a Burger
King crown, symbol of the slander campaign. From a someone who sat near
Miller we learned that even a friend that he was expecting didn't show
up to occupy the seat Miller was saving for him.

Clearly the current environment is not supportive of the Clear Channel
attempts to discredit the anti-war movement and prominent figures in it
like Ritter. In fact it just galvanized anti-war forces here.
