This is a bit academic since DMS just unsubbed himself. This was how he
characterized the list in his farewell message to me: "Don't want to
disrupt tha atmosphere in your nursing home for ex-SWPers." Which should
come as a surprise to the Morenoites, CP'ers, state-capitalists and various
and sundry other currents both individual and collective who post here.

In the 8 or 9 months DMS has participated on the leftwing of the Internet,
he has gotten himself expelled from LBO-Talk during the course of a flame
war about--guess what--the antiwar movement not being socialist. After
being given the boot here for being uncivil, he reappeared as Lvnadal only
to unsub himself in a huff after Les announced the subscribers photo
project. I was never quite sure what pissed him off about that.

In any case, if I allowed threads to "exhaust" themselves, this list would
go the way of all its predecessors, namely into the dustbin of history. If
there is one thing I have learned, it is that members of small socialist
groups convinced of their special role in history or individuals who think
that way themselves have an inexhaustible drive to convince others about
their special role or insights.

This list continues to grow and to flourish. It has stabilized with around
450 subscribers and the archives get upwards of 30,000 visits a week. I
have a strong vested interest in maintaining the status quo, since I see
Marxmail as an important asset for Marxism internationally.
