The unsolved mystery of the GDP/GNI discrepancy

If according to the World Bank, world GDP for 2002 was $32.3 trillion and
world GNI $31.5 trillion, we have to ask ourselves, how is this possible ?

As I have mentioned on this list, GNI includes net income from productive
activity by residents overseas. So why is $800,000 billion gone missing ? Is
this, perhaps, statistical corruption ?
