The Pentagon is trying to reactivate the mechanism of local draft boards
that existed during the Viet Nam period, just in case they should need to
draft anyone.

Since the Turkish troops are not coming (see this article:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031105/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us
_iraq_troops&cid=540&ncid=716 ) and since the idea of reconstructing the
Iraqi army and hoping that it fights for the US this time has apparently
been nixed (see this story:
http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/fc/World/iraq/news_stories/*http://story.ne
ws.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=540&e=7&u=/ap/20031104/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_
old_army_1 ), it's no surprise that, yes, they really ARE exploring
re-instituting the draft.

I take it we will all be ready for this?
