The latest "New Yorker" has an insightful and well-researched article on
Gibson and his film. Despite the author's efforts at impartiality,
Gibson's own words damn him as a violent and rather inarticulate nut,
not to mention a fanatic who is unduly disturbed by the power of
"secular Judaism" (which is out to blame the Catholic Church for the
Holocaust), and whose extreme version of pre-Vatican II CAtholicism
doesn't prevent him from hanging around Protestant conservatives and
