Such stories are important, especially for those responsible for the
proper education of young people in the English-speaking world who
sometimes conflate German culture with a Nazi mentality.

Rosenstraße demonstrates that many Germans were not only
*non*-anti-Semitic, but actually loved others who were Jewish. It also
shows how concerted action can effect positive results even in the worst
of conditions.

Other examples from the period include anti-fascist underground
resistance, the White Rose, and the Thaelmann Battalion in Spain --who
were, I am told from an eyewitness, outstanding anti-fascists and
excellent soldiers against the troops of Franco, Hitler and Mussolini.

I would be happy to add to my list.

Danke to German comrades.
