This demographical catastrophe (ellimination of surplus populations
combined with massive flows towards the large cities) shows that the
defeat of what little remained of Soviet power and the planned
economy (bureaucratic, but planned) is bringing Russia back to the
Third World to which it was bound between February and October, 1917.

Depopulation of vast regions and teeming miserable large towns is the
characteristic pattern of Third World urbanisation. It might even be
said to be the basic law of population in the Third World, in the
sense that Marx spoke of the reserve army as the basic law of
population in capitalism as a whole.

The fact that this process has begun to affect Russia of all
countries demonstrates that this is a systemic trend.
