[Marxism] Origin of Marriage

Just to offer another perspective. I was raised as a Mormon. It was all
"Americana" bullshit, but what many don't realize is that the Mormons, through
their early years of suffering tremendous persecution and near extinction,
literally survived by living "plural marriage." While sending the few remaining
men that they had to fight in the American-Mexican war...they survived by living
what they called the "United Order." In it, all was consecrated to their
leader...rich and poor alike, and it was then redispersed according to need.
Also, all talents and professions were volunteered to the "whole." Sound
familiar?
The problem was, that because their were so many more women than men-since
they were all murdered by the "good Americans," and because many died
fighting for the very country that was exterminating them...they instituted plural
marriage i.e. polygamy. The settlers, including the women were quite content
with the plan, and the Mormons established cities that flourished under this
"United Order" and became a terrible "threat" to their fellow Americans who were
living in much worse lifestyles. The plan worked...but was not accepted by
the country because it's success was a threat to what THEY thought America
should be.
I'd also like to point out that Utah was the first state that allowed
women to vote.
