"...consequences of failure in Iraq are unthinkable" George
Bush.

Out of the mouth of an amoral cretin comes the truth. Failure
in Iraq would spell not only the demise of his presidency but
would be a savage blow to American imperialism in general and
its neo-conservative manifestation in particular.

It would also ring the death knell for their allies and
collaborators.

The Americans know this and so do their liberal critics.
That is why many have abandoned the peace camp and are now
arguing to "stay the course", & that there is no alternative
to Bush's strategy.

We are faced with a deep systemic crisis and so much now
depends on the heroic resistance in Iraq. It will have to be
drwoned in the blood of hundreds of thousands before the
threat it represents can be beaten back.

Fallujah has shown that Bush & Blair are willing to exact
that price. The quesiton is whether the rest of the world is
going to let them.

Gary
