Clarence Thomas, former secretary treasurer of ILWU, Local 10, gave a
fantastic political talk at the IAC office in LA tonight. He spoke about the
need for
a genuinely grassroots movement for social and economic justice in the US,
with workers and labor in the vanguard. He thoroughly rejects the ABB
and when you consider some of the movement's demands, you can see why:
Completely, totally agree. For the comrades in LA, I pass along this posting
I received this morning as Comrade Thomas will be speaking again in La today:

>From Marc Ricci:
Clarence Thomas, co-chair of the Million Worker March, will speak today
the IAC. Clarence is an inspiring and dynamic speaker who makes clear
reasons why labor must march in its own name on Oct. 16. ... sorry for
short notice...

Date: Saturday, August 14
Time: 3:00 pm
Place: IAC Office: 5274 W. Pico Blvd. Suite 203 (5 Blocks
West of La Brea)
Phone: (323) 936-7266

The International Action Center is honored to host
Clarence Thomas, former secretary-treasurer of the
International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 10.

Thomas will speak about this historic Million Worker March
which is galvanizing the labor movement to focus on the
needs of workers over the needs of the Democratic or
Republican parties, including the demand "Jobs Not War."

Thomas and the ILWU local have a history of militant and
principled actions supporting the anti-apartheid struggle,
poliical prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal and the movement to stop
the U.S. war in Iraq.
