The following note was in my inbox when I got home from the Solidarity
meeting tonight. It is confirmation that ideas of the sort that "the
Heretic" expresses do exist among some antiwar Gis today. We should not
stereotype antiwar Gis, who come from all kinds of experiences and a
wide range of political views. Of course, this doesn't detract from the
broad value of Stan Goff's comments on the development of antiwar
sentiment among Gis.

I am writing as the sister of a deceased Army NCO (Sgt. Ryan M.
Campbell, Baghdad, April 29, 2004) to tell you that the contents of the
message you recently posted from The Heretic do, indeed, resonate with
those of my brother & Co. Thank you for asking your colleagues to refuse
those stereotypes non-military, "enlightened" intellectuals far removed
from the battlefield often employ to yet further remove themselves.
In peace and solidarity,
