The denominator trumps the numerator any day. Why do mathematicians

CB: Not only that, it may be that race is the denominator and class the
numerator in this analogy, because race is the main way of _dividing_ the
working class in the U.S. ( and in some other places), and "in" the U.S. vs
the World .
