[Marxism] Korean war skirmishes/fighting before the main conflict

I was wondering if someone could help me with a reference. I recall
reading a review in the Radical History Review years ago about a book about
the Korean War. In it, the reviewer focused on something that I was
previously unaware of, that air dogfights and battalion-sized skirmishes and
probing attacks were launched by each side and were common in the months
prior to the main North Korean offensive.

Unfortunately, the Radical History Review's web site doesn't seem to
reference that review or book; does anyone know what the text might have
been?

Or, does anyone have a good source for the fighting prior to the main
conflict in Korea?

 Thanks in advance.
