Honestly (if truthfully), the first selection might as well be
demonstrating an orthographic reform; it makes me want to run off and read
Kierkegaard.  But your remark is not otiose, as it seems to me that the
question of Marx's relationship to the traditional European practice of
"Englishing" jokes is somewhat to the point in terms of gauging his
relationship to "traditional" (i.e., pre-Critical) philosophy -- and if
Marx is beyond said concerns, it is in fact possible that he was already
all too far beyond such concerns (a question the hiving-off of SED
*Sosein* from the text might very well go some distance towards answering)
and that certain intellectual traditions fully deserve the respect they
rather mysteriously get at present.
