There is an important detail on the "turn" and the SWP history that
needs to be clarified: there were *two* "turns."
The first was a "turn" in the mid-70's to the working class communities
and organizations *generally* which *included* a specific orientation to
certain industrial unions. That "turn" is associated with the Prospects
for Socialism in America resolution, the Camejo for President campaign,
the Boston school desegregation fight, the National Chicano-Latino
Conference Against Deportations, etc.
The second was "THE" turn, adopted at the Feb. 1978 plenum of the
National Committee, which said that the number one overriding priority
for the party was to get a majority of its members and leaders into the
industrial unions. It is *this* turn that I was speaking to specifically
in my previous post.
