It should be noted that even in the best of times nearly all the production jobs in the computer industry in the Silicon Valley, were held by workers "employed" by temp agencies, at around $8.50 per hour with no benefits. The "boom" , for the most part only benefited web designers, programmers, and engineers. The outlook for those looking for work as production, clerical or warehouse workers, wasn't all that great, then or now.
