(The rightist exiles won't give up on their claim that
Elian's rescue was a violation of the "democratic rights"
of those kidnappers in Miami who would not release him
after courts ordered that they do so. They never explained
what "democratic rights" kidnappers should have.

(One left-wing organization came out SUPPORTING the lie
that "democratic rights" were somehow violated. Read or
re-read one of the bizarrest statements ever issued by a
left-wing organization in the United States of America
and one they have never seen fit to retract or correct:

Court rejects latest Elian Gonzalez case

WASHINGTON, Mar 22, 2004 (United Press International via

-- The U.S. Supreme Court Monday rejected a case brought by
the Miami supporters of Elian Gonzalez, who said their
rights were violated by a government raid.

Six-year-old Elian was found adrift off Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., on Nov. 25, 1999. The U.S. Coast Guard took him to
Miami, where, after a stint at a hospital, he was paroled
into the home of his relative, Lazaro Gonzalez. Lazaro
later filed for political asylum on Elian's behalf.

However, the boy's father was still alive in Cuba and
wanted him back. The Justice Department said it was
compelled by U.S. law to return the child.

When negotiations between Lazaro and the government for a
hand-over broke down, then-Attorney General Janet Reno
ordered a raid on April 22, 2000. Agents burst into the
Lazaro Gonzalez home and took Elian by force to return him
to his father.

The lower courts have ruled Reno and other officials had
immunity from suits for actions taken as part of their
official duties.
