U.S. military delegation arrives in Taiwan


-The visit is part of a 25-year-old Pentagon program,
named the Foreign Comparative Testing program, that
locates technology that can boost the military and
replace more expensive equipment. This is the first
time that the program has sent a delegation to Taiwan.



TAIPEI - A U.S. Department of Defense delegation
arrived in Taipei, Taiwan, Saturday for a three-day
visit, the Taipei Times reported.

The visit could clear the way for the United States to
purchase Taiwanese weapons technology, the Times said.

The delegation includes five civilian defense
officials from the U.S. army, air force and navy.They
will meet with Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense
officials and industry representatives to identify
weapons technology that Taiwanese companies could
supply to the United States.
