Another interesting point.
That the Social Democrats prevented KDP members from getting jobs. Thus  when 
the attack on the unions took place the Communists had no influence to  
resist.
This is anecdotally referred to in "Our Street", when the Communists  boarded 
the trains to Siemens and appealed unsuccessfully to the workers factory  
bound, to strike.
