Readers will appreciate significance of this turnout (nearly twice that
of the turnout at the previous union rally on June 30/July 1) if they
consider that the Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates total number
of full-time workers in Australia as only 7,096,900 (total workforce 10
million). <http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs%40.nsf/mf/6202.0>

It does not substantiate bosses claims that "95% of workers stayed on
the job".

Usually for every one person who takes to the street in such mass
rallies there are several who agree but don't make it. With employers
warning of fining workers thousands of dollars or the sack, this is an
amazing turnout.
