Martin was part of the Debs Tendency in the Socialist Party USA last
year, until he and Lisa Weltman left the DT and the party amidst a spat
of such resignations.  He's been connected with a group calling itself
the Communist League:

and comrades in Michigan assure me that there's little reason to
believe it or the Detroit Working People's Association have much (if
any) base outside of Martin and Lisa's household.  I'm not sure how
much you can say that this falls under the category of "more productive
enterprises."
