So how does the 2005 formation of a grand coalition between
the SPD and the CDU compare with the grand coalition
of the two parties back in the late 1960s?

The last time around, that helped to spur the creation
of what was known as an extra-parliamentary left in
West Germany.  What are people's expectations this
time around?
