France shows the way: We can stop anti-worker laws!
<http://www.greenleft.org.au/back/2006/664/664p3.htm>

For two months, students and workers across France have been striking
and protesting against a new law allowing employers to sack young
workers for no reason within their first two years of employment. Around
3 million people poured onto the streets in 135 cities and towns on
March 28. Then, on April 4, more than 3 million mobilised across the
country. It is an example worth following! [Full article]

VENEZUELA: A new kind of socialism
<http://www.greenleft.org.au/back/2006/664/664p28.htm>

``One important idea that [Venezuelan President Hugo] Chavez had was
to give power to the poor people. In the classic fight between the
classes, the rich people have all the money and control of the
government. The socialism that we are trying to build in this country at
this time is an attempt to give power to the poor people, the excluded
sector - which includes the poor, the workers, the professionals, the
housewives, the indigenous people'', Dr Marcelo Alfonso, director of the
Institute of Experimental Medicine at the Central University of
Venezuela, explained to Green Left Weekly. [Full article]
