I'm not sure that this resolves the issue though. The immediate obvious
counter-question (from the hypothetical person whom the socialist is talking
to) would be: "Why does not the Mexican emigrate with the whole family to
Cuba? -- given that both the emigrant and the family would receive free
healthcare and education in Cuba?"
In fact, does anyone (Walter?) have any knowledge about Cuba's immigration
policy? Can Haitians immigrate to Cuba, for example, if they choose? Why
aren't many Haitians doing so, given the proxomity to Cuba, and the very
difficult situation in Haiti?
In fact, it seems that anyone trying to build socialism and a decent society
(with healthcare and education) will be swamped by economic migrants from
the exploited victims of capitalism in the third world, unless strict and
exclusionary immigration rules are in place. So, I'd like to know how the
Cubans have addressed this issue, in case anyone knows.
