Tehran Bus Workers’ Protest – Update 4, Sunday 1 January 2006

150 workers gather outside court house; trial of workers suspended

150 workers from all the 10 Bus Districts of Tehran assembled outside the
Revolution Court on Mo’allem Street, from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm today, calling
for the immediate and unconditional release of Mansoor Ossanlou, head of the
bus workers’ union.

Following talks between workers’ representatives and Judge Matin Rasekh,
Mansoor Ossanlou’s wife, Parvaneh Ossanlou, was granted permission to visit
him today or tomorrow. Furthermore, the trial of the 7 labour reps, due to
take place today, was put on hold.

The Worker-communist Party of Iran has urged labour organisations
internationally to step up their pressure on the Islamic Republic regime for
the immediate release of Mansoor Ossanlou and for an end to persecution of
workers and labour activists.

Please send your letters of protest to the Islamic Republic President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at ahmadinejad at president.ir and forward a copy to us.
